An Introduction to the Problems of Philosophy

An Introduction to the Problems of Philosophy

Also known as the MATERIALISM vs SPIRITUALISM.

Apart from the Agnostics who conclude on neither side if we consider them as Philosophers at all, there are basically 2 kinds of Philosophers in the world.

In the subject of Philosophy, they are typically called:

  1. Materialist
  2. Idealist / Spiritualist.

But I think to myself alternatively as respectively:

  1. NATURALIST
  2. SUPERNATURALIST

The Materialists (Materialist philosophers) believe that, there is nothing other than Mass and Energy in the entire Cosmos. And that, there can be no case of the Memocariate ever possible.

Thus, if a COSM (Case Of the Seeming Memocariate) arises in the Cosmos then they would conclude that it is a Case Of No Memocariate (CONM) at all. You may say this also as follows using my terminology style:

COSM = CONM … (to the Materialist)

They reject the Null hypothesis say

H0 : SM = M

i.e. Seeming Memocariate = Memocariate

outright.

The Idealists (Idealist philosophers) believe that, there is also something other than Mass and Energy in the Universe. And that, this something is a Supernatural substance.

Which is not conceivable directly by the typical 5 Sense-organs (eyes, ears, nose, skin, tongue). It is thus non-sensuous or beyond the sensuous or, in my own country India’s terminology:

the Supersensuous.
